Blooming Friday~~ A Few Blooms

This Friday I welcome you with the white blossom of the
Crape Jasmine. To see more Blooming Friday posts, please
visit our gracious host Katarina at Roses and Stuff.

The Crape Jasmine is also known as the Pinwheel flower. It's
a shrub/small tree commonly found in India and can reach heights
of six feet. It blooms almost throughout the year. My small plant
has been putting on a show since March. The plant belongs to the
Oleander family and the flowers are borne in small clusters.

Here's a shot of how a mature shrub looks like. This was taken
from a running car on a busy street. Blurry, but you get the
idea.

Hibiscus schizopetalus is known by many other names too.
Some of them are--Fringed Hibiscus, Japanese Lantern, Coral
Hibiscus and Skeleton Hibiscus.

This fallen bloom was snapped on the edge of my sister's
garden. The ones on the plant, for some reason, did not
photograph well.

Found this Striped Albatross butterfly feeding on the tiny
white blooms of a kind of basil. The ID of this basil is yet
to be established:)

Does that jasmine have a fragrance? I can see why it's called a pinwheel plant.

The skeleton hibiscus is appropriately named too. Such interesting plants Kanak.

The Crape Jasmine flower is delightful. The Hibiscus is pretty too - not a species I've seen before.

Thank you all for stopping by. I forgot to mention in my post that this jasmine does not have a smell. So unlike a jasmine!! After all with the species the first thing which comes to mind about jasmine--is fragrance!

I'll be away from regular blogging for, what I hope is, a short while. I'll be able to respond to your comments or visit your blogs only after I get back. Take care. And blog on.....

There is something really fasinating with your hibiscus, Colors and shape to spin my imagenation. What a pitty there isn´t any smell on your jasmine, seem to remeber they have a very spicy scent otherwise. Your butterflies pictures are really something though :)

We know Hibiscus schizopetalus as Chinese Lanterns, but also Waltzing Ladies. The Crape Jasmine is beautiful as an espalier. My favorite part of your post, however is the butterfly.

Hi Kanak, The Jasmine looks so delicate and yet it's an almost constant bloomer! Wish it would like it here...

Ooohhh, Jasmine is lovely and the tree form extra lovely. The fringed hibiscus is new to me but I LIKE it... actually better than the common ones. Enjoyed the look at the pretty butterflies too. Always a treat to see the snouts on those cutie wootie flying critters.
Have a wonderful day!

Lovely shots of your butterflies! I must admit a bit sad by the ad "TruGreen" I wonder if you know it is coming up? I am sure they must use harmful chemicals... would love to know that was not so.
