Raining Bouquets and Brickbats!

Happiness is a shower of rain! With the heat that becomes almost
unbearable, we all wait and pray for rain. Then it comes, it
pours and pours! You gush and you revel in its magic--breathing
in generous lungfuls of earth's essence, overcome with joy that
your loved ones will turn greener, healthier.
But magic isn't supposed to last!

The soil starts to look like this. In the mornings and on quiet
afternoons, the footmarks of the water rail create an intricate
pattern of a foraging bird.

This was the worst! It'd rained heavily for two days and the area
was flooded. I thought I'd taken a photo of an insect skimming on
surface. Instead the reflection of the cycad showed up!

When the water gradually dried up, garden lizards came out to
bask in the sun. This shy creature darted under the palms at my
sight! Slush and shells here.

This type of weed proliferated. I noticed the shells again after
I'd loaded the photos in the computer.

With the number of shells spiralling I settled down to a child's
activity of glueing them along with pebbles and a stone butterfly
and bits of sea-shells on to this little pot. Pebble-dashed and
shell-stocked!

Pebble dashed and shell stocked? Love it! I sure wish it would rain here. I am getting mighty desperate!

I love your idea of making the detritus part of your decor. Did you use a hot-glue gun to stick them to the pot?

That cycad reflected picture is really pretty. I think it is really neat how you took those shells and turned them into something decorative.

I love your picture of the Cycad reflection in the water. Your little pot decorated with shells & pebbles is so cute. Glad you got some much needed rain even if it went alittle overboard.

Wow, that's a lot of rain. Reminds me of the deluge we got here a couple of weeks ago when the remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through the Chicago area.

Your shell pot looks so pretty. What a great idea!

Tina, couldn't resist the pebblle- dash part. Here's hoping for rain to go your way!

Walk2write, I didn't use a hot-glue gun, just my bare hands and a tube of glue. Moreover it's a once in a blue moon kind of thing but it was fun to see the change in an old little pot!

Susie, thanks. I also found out what a mandevilla is and my, the blooms are gorgeous!

Racquel, I love the small shells but for effect, I've also glued a couple of the bigger variety.

Garden girl, thanks. I hope the deluge didn't damage your plants.

Kanak, I know what you mean by waiting for rain in the heat and than when it comes its bliss. Great photos and story. Love your handmade pebble and shell vase.

NEAT! We are having rain today after two weeks with none. I caved and watered my plants yesterday, it always brings on the showers (like washing the car:). LOVE your pictures:)

I know! That happens to me too! All rumble-rumble from above as if it'd pour cats and dogs any moment--but nothing happens. But when you water, it pours!
But your plants must be happily soaking in the goodness of rain...Thank you for your kind comment.
