Unidentified Blooms

Remember these blooms whose name I didn't know? Well, after a great
deal of googling, I found out that these are known by several names!
Achimenes longiflora is also known as the Hot Water Plant, Monkey-
faced Pansy, Magic Flower and Orchid Pansy. At least this one ( out of the
two that I'm including in my post today) has been identified.

These two photos are from April when these flowers bloomed. They open
in the afternoons and close in the mornings. Bees are attracted to
them. There's no fragrance in these pretty blooms. Although I've been
to a lot of sites, I haven't come across anything similar. I'd be happy
if someone from blogdom can help me here:)

Hi Kanak, Great that you discovered the names(s) of that first one! Both plants are so unique and so beautiful - God surely created some marvelous "art" for us to enjoy!

Very pretty white flowers! Do you think it is a species of edible Chlorophytum (safed musli in Hindi), Chlorophytum breviscapum or tuberosum? If neither, let’s call it Chlorophytum kanakum, after the owner of the plant!

Hello Kanak,

I am glad you were able to find out at least what one of your plants was. I just love the common names too!

What lovely flowers...I wish I could help you...the bottom flowers do look like what my mother always called windchimes...they were a bulb plant and grew all over her wooded field.

Hello Kanak, I share your passion of really needed to know the name of the plant or flower. I would get really excited about a new name. Most of the times I would spend a great deal of time reading about plant profile, plant care etc. It's fun isn't it? Hope you are able to find the other plant's name... guess till you get it :-)

Thanks for stopping by....I guess I'll need some more time in order to find out...loved reading your inputs on similar-looking blooms:)

Shailaja...kanakum, LOL! Did check out the names...they do look a lot alike but not the same.

Padma, the plant is not invasive. Isn't it nice to talk about a plant NOT being invasive? So many garden plants tend to be just that!

Monkey-faced Pansy doesn't sound very complimentary for such a beautiful flower :-)
Hope you find out what your white flowers are.

Gosh I have no idea. They are so pretty though. Sometimes it is very difficult to identify things, even with the help of the web. I run in to that all the time.

Perhaps that white flowered specimen is an endemic plant.

EG, that's what I felt too! And I forgot to include another name. It's called Cupid's Bower also.

Tina/Prospero...maybe because it's endemic, the World Wide Web does not have it!:)
