Shades Of Purple This Blooming Friday!

Welcome! The Glory Vine bloomed for the first time and here's a
small cluster of the trumpet-shaped flowers. Saritaea magnifica
blooms in the cooler months of September and October.

The Water Spinach, an edible variety of the Morning Glory family has
trailed up the bamboo. Ipomoea Aquatica has arrow-shaped leaves with
milky sap. It's a semi-aquatic plant.

The blooms of the Bush Morning Glory. Like other morning glory varieties
the blooms close at mid-day. This plant can grow up to 1.5 mtrs. Commonly
found on the edge of paddy fields and other low-lying areas. I had picked
this one from the roadside in January.

The bloom of the Long Bean. I find vegetable blooms most fascinating.

Going with the theme, here's a sunset with purple shades:) The skies
look dramatic these days and this is what I captured a few days ago.

weekend!

The morning glory bloom is the only one that looks familiar to me. I love all the purples!

Hope you have a good weekend too!

No light pollution in your city! And you still get to see such glorious sunsets, lucky you! Bright city lights have robbed most cities of a similar spectacle.

Hello Kanak,

What beautiful photos! The flowers are not familiar to me, except for the Morning Glory, but I love the shades of purple.

The sunset is magnificent!

Thank you all so much! So glad to read your comments...loved them all!

The sunset view is some distance away from our house. My neighbour's house comes into the frame when I click in the western direction. The coconut trees belong to the owners of the house.

Shailaja, not in our area. It still isn't polluted to that extent.

Steph, we'll have a very low-key affair.

Padma, the edible variety is not in the first photo...it's the second one.

What a lovely colour theme you have here and such beautiful flowers.

I have always found the flowers of vegetables fascinating too.

I love the different stages of the caterpillar on your previous post Kanak (I do struggle to keep up with posts!), it would be great if you could capture the final stages too!

A softcoloured romantic blooming today. Lovely flowers and the sunset ( or was it rice..) is beautiful. But most of all I enjoyed the warmth from your picture, it's getting to cold for gardening in Norway :)

Zindagi/Autumn Belle/Helen, thank you for your Diwali wishes. Wish you the same too!! And Helen, thanks for the alias!

Autumn Belle, no rangoli but a lot of diyas...simply love them!

Mildred, wish you the same too. I hope your skies are clear.

Prospero...next year the blooms will increase. But I'm happy with these first ones too!

Lona, although the blooms are pretty, the plant is an invasive variety. In swampy areas they grow in huge clumps. The blooms look beautiful...hundreds blooming at the same time. happy to read your comment.

Jan, thanks for your comment here and for mentioning the caterpillar too. Glad you like the theme and the blooms:-)Hoping to capture the final stage of the caterpillar....

Mia, thank you so much! Through my pictures, I hope I'll be able to send you some more warmth!!!

Katarina...glad to read this! Wish you the same too!!

Sweetbay...I remember your purple shades too. The asters come to mind, and the beautyberries. Thanks.

Trudi, thank you so much!

Tyra, this plant roots easily and I've not propagated them by seeds. Now that you've said it, I'll keep the seeds. I'll let you know...glad you mentioned this or I'd never have thought about the seeds!

Trevlig helg!
