The following photos were taken last month. I've never
seen a moth like this before. It's amazing what one might
see when half the world is still asleep and these beauties
are up and about. It pays to be up/out at dawn:)
Not a very common sight--this one too. The long-horned
grass-hopper. Katydid. Resembles a leaf.
Family- Tettigoniidae.
Order-Orthoptera.
The name "Orthoptera" is derived from 'orthos' (straight)
and 'pteron' (wing).
A white and brown moth. I'm still googling to find out
its name.

How do you get such clear, close-up photos Kanak? These are so beautiful! I love them all and I hope you are having a grand day. We are getting so much rain...when the sun does comes out, it is really going to be a jungle!

Interesting how that grasshopper mimics a leaf. That first moth is very pretty (people should respect insects, and thanks for doing a post on them).

This morning was pleasant--sunny with a light breeze. So there were many winged beauties on my Ixora. But evening brought some rain and I'm looking forward to a pleasant tomorrow. I hope your day will be good!

Nice series of photos. I really liked the photo of the long horned grasshopper looking right at you. The last moth we have a lot here that look close to it.
