Moss Rose Morphs!

When I first planted Moss Rose and the blooms appeared,
here's what they looked like. Every bloom looked the same!

Out of the assembly line--cloned to perfection!

But of late, there are some in magenta monotones. Not a trace
its lineage--the soft pink, the white, or that little flash of
red in between!

And one sunny day I saw an absolutely white bloom. Although I
had taken a picture I accidentally deleted it. Sigh!

Looks like there's more interesting change coming up. More magenta
shades and less of pink/white. Meanwhile, I'll be watching out for
another portulaca grandiflora alba...

I'm a great lover of magenta flowers. It is interesting when plants start producing different coloured flowers - it is as if they were experimenting with a new look!

Pretty flowers. They are following Mendel's theory.

What pretty flowers and I love the Bromeliads on your previous post, yet another plant which we can only grow indoors. I always find that although they grow quite well they never produce the bloom again after the first time. Which I suppose proves they would much rather grow in your part of the world.

Moss rose has such pretty little flowers. My grandmother grew it in pots, and it always reminds me of her.

Very pretty blooms! Nice that they take on a life of their own, with new dresses to suit their fancy. Or so it seems. LOL!

I like growing these flowers Kanak. They are so easy and low maintenance.
They remind me of my grandmother, she always had them.
