Sky-candy

The western sky in the morning. As if spouting steam
from the other end of infinity. The east is usually
shrouded in voluminous cream, as if its had enough
of blue!

Crows fly above the coconut and betel nut trees. More
wispy clouds float on northern skies.

But by afternoon there's no sign of blue. Other colours
take over.

The sun plays peek-a-boo. My west-side neighbours have no
idea that their house has got into my camera frame umpteen
times. There's no way I can get at the setting sun, at least
when I'm at home!

The changes within minutes! These sunset shots were taken
on three different days. Although the location is the same
the colours change so drastically that I can't resist pho-
tographing, and posting.

Your pictures are beautiful, and words even more so. Love that picture with the big leaf (banana?) on the side of it. You have a great day!

Thanks Tina. Yes, that's a banana leaf. Glad you liked it. Enjoy your Sunday!

Kanak, I can understand you not being able to resist capturing the beautiful colors of the sky in photos. The sky looks so serene. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

How soothing and calming that yellow/gold picture is. Really pretty. Stay safe Kanak, I am really sorry for what is going on in your country.

Mildred and Susie, thanks. As I was posting, the words of a poet did keep coming to my mind---" ...but earth and sky/deceptively at peace." The poet, Robin S. Ngangom was talking about another kind of terror...

It's really so sad that an incident as horrific as this has happened. There's nothing that occupies our minds right now...

Was thinking of you this weekend when the attacks in Mumbai happened. How scary and terrible. If everyone would spend more time looking at the sunset and less effort on being angry, we would have a more peaceful world. One can always hope, for the future! Thanks for your beautiful photos and words.

Thanks Karen. This kind of terror is becoming so real...it's frightening. Too many young people are brainwashed into believing all the wrong things. Less effort on being angry would certainly make the world a better place.

Tyra, so glad you liked it. Thanks a ton!

I love watching the sky too. It steals time in a blink, but worth it all the same. I especially like figuring out the shapes drawn by it. Like I usually see a bear almost once in a week. Great photos. I like the smoking one especially.

Great pictures - I particularly liked the sunsets with palm trees and the big banana leaf.

Kanak, Absolutely stunning skies... I love the different shades and colors. I'm always amazed at how very fast the sunset or sunrise can change the look of the sky from one minute to the next.

Chandramouli, thanks. Yes, cloud shapes can be fascinating to watch. I hope Chennai is back to normal now.

Easygardener, these are the typical scenes in many areas of Guwahati. Coconut and betel nut trees dominate the skyline in several localities. Glad you liked the pics.

Hi Meems, I suppose I'd never have taken such an interest in the sky had it not been for Blotanical or blogging. Being part of a wonderful community has really opened my eyes to wonders seen in and from one's yard.

And your blog, I must tell you, has been a BIG inspiration! Thank you so much! Glad you liked the pics.

You were first on my mind too when I heard the news. Prayed for you and your family right away. Thanks for the peaceful pics and reassuring words. Regarding the neighbor's house, I have the same problem with certain camera angles here in FL where we are right now and in IL. Hope nobody minds too much. They all know I blog, and no one has complained yet. Stay safe, gentle Kanak!

Laurie and Walk to Write,

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers about me and my family. This is a tragedy that has gripped the nation like no other. And as more and more facts emerge, one can only wonder, in horror, about how insidious minds work.

Whatever we do, the thoughts of all the people hurt or killed keep haunting us. And so many disturbing images...one can't help wondering about the senselessness of it all.
